Year 3 Attend Parish Mass – 6th May 2026

On Wednesday 6th May 2026, Year 3 attended Parish Mass at Sacred Heart Church. The children participated, with six pupils reading bidding Prayers with confidence while the entire year group sang beautifully. They listened intently to the homily about St Dominic Savio, a devoted pupil of St John Bosco. Inspired by his example, we pray: St Dominic Savio, guide us as we work hard, pray hard, and play well.

Act of Worship – 26th March 2026

The school came together on Thursday 24th March with Deacon Michael to prepare for Holy Week. It was a special service and the children had worked hard beforehand to prepare. At the service we prepared for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Palm Sunday: the start of Holy Week, when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on a donkey with people waving palms to welcome him and shouting “Hosanna”.

Maundy Thursday: when Jesus shared his last supper with his disciples. He washed their feet which was usually a job of a servant. As Jesus ate bread and drank wine he told his disciples to remember him. This was because Jesus knew that the next day he was to die on the cross.

Good Friday: the day that Jesus was arrested, crucified and died on the cross.

Easter Sunday: the most special day in the Catholic Church when Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection reminding everyone that even in the most difficult situations there is always hope.

Confessions Year 4, 5 and 6 – Spring Term 2026

In the Spring term, Years 4, 5 and 6 have been receiving the Sacrament of Confession on Wednesdays with Deacon Michael. Confession offers the children an opportunity to ask God for forgiveness for times when they have not shown kindness or compassion. It also helps them to reflect on their actions and grow in their relationship with God.

Celebration of the Word Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 – Spring 2026

Across February and March, Years 2 to 6 have been leading their parents and teachers in a Celebration of the Word with Deacon Michael. At each Celebration, Deacon Michael spoke of Lent as an opportunity to say sorry for the things we should not have done and to reflect on Pope Leo’s message to avoid using words that wound or hurt our neighbour during this holy season. All of the children listened carefully to Deacon Michael, responding thoughtfully and respectfully.

These Celebrations are an important part of life in a Catholic school, as they help children to grow in their understanding of faith and to live out Gospel values in their everyday actions.

Feast of Saint John Bosco Mass – 30th January 2026

The whole school gathered together in January to celebrate the Feast of Saint John Bosco with a special Mass lead by Deacon Michael. During the celebration, the children learned about the life and mission of Saint John Bosco, who dedicated his life to caring for and educating young people, especially those who were most in need.

Deacon Michael reminded everyone of St John Bosco’s message to show kindness, patience, and understanding towards others, and to use our talents to help those around us. The children participated thoughtfully throughout the Mass, joining in prayer and song with great respect.

Epiphany Service January 2026

Despite the frosty weather on Tuesday, the children braved the cold to gather outside with Deacon Michael for a beautiful Epiphany liturgy.

The celebration included a very special guest — Baxter the camel — who helped to re-enact the story of the first Epiphany. This brought the Gospel story vividly to life as the journey of the Magi visiting the baby Jesus was shared.

Children, staff and parents came together to creating a joyful and prayerful atmosphere. It was a memorable and meaningful way to mark the feast day and a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to reflect on the message of Epiphany.
