Discover Our Playground Trees
A Nature Adventure with QR Codes and iPads!
Welcome to our Tree Identification Project — a fun and interactive way to explore the natural world right here in our school playground!
Using school iPads, pupils can simply scan the QR codes attached to different trees and instantly unlock a world of information. Each code links to a special page filled with fascinating facts, photos, and stories about the tree they’re standing beside.
How It Works
- Look for the QR code signs on trees around the playground
- Use your school iPad to scan the code
- Click through to a tree profile page with fun facts, leaf shapes, seasonal changes, and more!
Why We Love This Project
- Encourages curiosity and outdoor learning
- Helps children connect with local nature and biodiversity
- Builds digital skills through safe and guided technology use
- Sparks conversations about environmental care and sustainability
Whether it’s a towering oak or a fluttery silver birch, every tree has a story — and now our pupils can discover them all with just a tap.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
This project supports our science curriculum and promotes independent learning. Children can explore at their own pace, revisit favourite trees, and even contribute their own observations and drawings to the tree pages. Here are some examples:
